Squeeze a drop of carpenter s glue into each loose hole then push about 3 wooden matches or toothpicks into the hole or enough to fill it and snap the excess wood off.
How to fix a stripped door hinge.
Unscrew the loose screws and remove the hinge from on top of the stripped holes.
The dowel i bought was 48 long so i cut off three pieces that were around 1 5 long.
Fix it the right way not the wrong way.
Drill out the old holes.
Screw the hinge back into place after the glue is dry.
How to tighten stripped hinge screws.
After you have done that put them in the hole that is stripped.
The wrong way is a temporary fix not cool.
After it has dried get a new screw that is not stripped and screw it in the hole that was repaired.
How to repair stripped screw holes for a door hinge.
One way to fix the stripped hole is to take one or two cardboard matches and dip them into either white glue or wood glue.
Using your 3 8 drill bit drill out the old screw holes.
Tighten the hinge screws screws magically work themselves loose over the years.
Remove the screws that hold the loose hinge leaf to the door jamb.
Dry fit your dowels to make.
Drill drill bits hex keys bits or drivers threaded inserts for wood i used 6 32 inserts screws to match the threaded inserts i used 6 32x3 8 so the screws wouldn t penetrate the doors wood glue angled bit holder optional.
If the hinge and jamb are painted cut the paint around the leaf with a utility knife swing the leaf away from the jamb.
What you will need.
If your door rubs near the top or drags on the floor use a screwdriver not a drill to tighten the screws.
Open the door wide and insert a wedge under the bottom outside corner to level it.
